The Dress-Up Box- Theatrical Fashion Show
Olivia Ferguson | Multi Discipline
Overview
Kia Ora!
The Dress-Up Box has been a year in the making, it is the first post-university collection and fashion show for Poneke label Equilibrium by Olivia Ferguson. Focused on being an immersive theatrical show, The Dress-Up Box explores themes of childhood nostalgia through dress and play, encouraging the audience to see everyday clothing as an invitation to have fun, to be creative, and to explore different worlds.
As an emerging independent fashion label, Equilibrium isn’t working with a lot financially, which is why we are relying on crowd funding to support this production. This funding will allow collaboration with other creatives and local businesses, without whom, the show would not be possible.
What will it be like?
Guests will arrive into a space staged like a bedroom with the seating area filled with couches and chairs styled like a lounge. When guests arrive there will be complimentary drink and finger food provided and the opportunity to view a small exhibition of behind-the-scenes process work.
The show will run for approximately 45 minutes and follows the story of children playing dress-up in a bedroom. Beginning with a short video to introduce and set the tone of the show, the story will move through 7 different characters, 11 looks at 23 garments worn by dancers who will dance down around the set in both solo and group dances.
Great! What’s the funding for?
The funds raised from our Boosted campaign are what we need to make this project a reality. This is an all or nothing campaign, if we don't reach our goal we won't get anything.
We need to reach our Boosted goal to cover essential production costs, and so that we can pay all the creatives and talent involved as well as supporting Equilibrium to achieve their dreams and goals as an emerging label.
Your donations will go towards:
- Paying the local lighting and event design business for the lighting and set design
- Koha ‘thank you’ for dancers
- Photographers and videographers

Goal Reached!
We really weren't sure how much we could raise through this campaign- we wanted at least $1000 to contribute towards our $1700 personnel budget. Thanks to all of our generous donors, we exceeded the $1000 and reached our budget goal!!
We want to thank every single donor and person who shared the campaign around, every little bit added up to make this possible.
Thanks to our generous donors, we are able recognise and support all the talented creatives who are helping make this production possible! This includes our team of dancers, the photographers, lighting designer, choreographer, hair and makeup artists and graphic designer
We cannot wait to bring this show to life on November 23- things are already coming together so well! We hope to see you at the show x
