SUPPORT ARTISTS FOR SCULPTURE ON THE GULF 2022
Headland Sculpture on The Gulf | Visual Art
Overview
Why do we need your support?
Our much-loved biennial exhibition is back, and we need your support to present the work of 30 emerging and established artists from Aotearoa.
It has been a difficult couple of years for the arts sector with many artists facing financial challenges due to exhibition and residency cancellations, dwindling sponsorship and ongoing impacts from the pandemic.
The artworks for Perpetual Guardian Sculpture on the Gulf 2022 have been created through sheer determination and a commitment to finding innovative and resourceful ways to realise the vision. Your contribution will help the artists with costs incurred so far and those yet to come. This is your chance to make a real difference for artists –we need your collective generosity to get us there!
What is Sculpture on the Gulf?
Sculpture on The Gulf is Aotearoa, New Zealand's premier sculpture exhibition attracting an audience of thousands. With careful planning we are delighted to announce that we can safely manage protocols for the event under the COVID-19 Protection Framework.
The Matiatia Coastal Walkway, Waiheke will once again be transformed into an Artscape like no other for Perpetual Guardian Sculpture on the Gulf 2022. From 4 – 27 March a world-renowned art & nature experience awaits. Walk, talk, connect and reflect as you encounter site-responsive sculpture up close and personal against a backdrop of magnificent vistas over the Hauraki Gulf on Waiheke Island.
How can you help?
Your contribution will support the production and costs of artworks with donations allocated evenly between the 30 artists in the 2022 exhibition:
Our Perpetual Guardian Sculpture on the Gulf 2022 artists are:
Martin Basher, Brit Bunkley, Francisco Carbajal, James Cousins, Jane Downes, Johl Dwyer, Lang Ea, Margaret Feeney, Debbie Fish, Anton Forde, Andrea Gardner, Wanda Gillespie, Aiko Groot, Natalie Guy, Ioane Ioane, Tyler Jackson, Te Rongo Kirkwood, Melissa Laing, Virginia Leonard, Louise McRae, Chris Moore, Julie Moselen, Kazu Nakagawa, Denis O’Connor, Jonas Raw, Sally Smith, Kereama Taepa, Salome Tanuvasa, Janine Williams and Jorge Wright.

We believe in our community.
We also believe in miracles! And this morning, those beliefs were significantly confirmed, even though we had to refresh our screens a few times to make sure what our eyes were seeing was indeed real.
Thank you for answering our call.
A special thanks to the very generous donor whose immense contribution accelerated us across the line!!
What a beautifully blessed way to kick off our show this week. Thank you again for contributing to our Boosted Support Artists fundraiser campaign on behalf of ALL our artists.
