Line-Out

It's no secret that for the majority of New Zealanders rugby is what we live and breathe. Yet the stereotypes and behavioural expectations associated with rugby culture has meant that gay players and supporters have remained closeted or refrained from participation altogether. There still has yet to be an openly gay All Black or professional rugby player in New Zealand.

Line-Out follows the New Zealand Falcons - competing in a regional open grade competition as the only openly gay and inclusive club in the county. The project aims to explore the barriers and anxieties faced by the Falcons and directly challenge the stigmas surrounding gay participation in wider rugby culture.

As a gay filmmaker and massive rugby fan, this has been a passion project of mine and I've worked extremely hard trying to bring Line-Out to screen. The project has been in pre-production for over two and a half years and, finally, after a year of standing on rugby fields in freezing rain, boggy mud and icy wind I have reached post-production. I have a vast bank of footage and a strong script ready to take into the editing phase.

This is where I need your help.

I'm looking for donations to help me pay for a professional post-production team of editors, sound mixers, colour graders to bring the strongest product possible to screen. In addition, the money raised will help me secure music licenses from local Kiwi bands, pay entry fees into both local and New Zealand film festivals and cover some of the costs associated with production.

Boosted is an all-or-nothing crowdfunding platform, which means my campaign needs to reach 100% of the target, so every donation, every last dollar helps. Every named donation, no matter how small will be included in the credits.
