I. MONSTER.

The Project
CONCEPT
I. MONSTERS. is a solo, nonlinear, autobiographical performance built upon the increasing awareness of my own mortality.
I. MONSTER. deals with the silent struggle that touches many others: fantasising and battling with suicide.
I. MONSTER. is a cry for life and a reflection upon death.
In I. MONSTER. I speak from my OTHERNESS, from the feeling of dancing in the fringes of today's existence: as a gay/aging/latino man, as a non-pakeha, non-Māori artist in NZ, as an expatriate living in a chosen exile, trying to figure out and claim my own place and perhaps trying to find meaning to life.
SYNOPSIS
The project has 2 stages:
- Developing season. 30th June 2023 Hannah Playhouse, Wellington NZ.
- Full production. Early December 2023 Hannah Playhouse, Wellington NZ. Exact dates to be confirmed.
The first stage of this project is a work on development which takes as a starting point a poem I wrote in 2020, during covid, called 'Dust to Dust' and which deals with the idea of dying.
