Yellow Fever is a short film drama that follows an Asian woman on a date with a European man riddled with ‘Yellow Fever’.
This is when traditionally white men are often infatuated with Asian women and view them as sexual objects, rather than the women themselves and simplifies the Asian identity.
Directed/written by Erin Geraghty and produced by Hunter Hunwick; this film focuses on validating Asian experiences on screen and is inspired by personal encounters of strange but very real dating experiences. Yellow Fever aims to address the challenging experiences our community faces but in a creative way that lifts our voices and aims for social change. This is a story of survival, identity, and strength.
How you can help
With your help, we will be able to create an environment that will allow us to bring justice to the film and its story. From feeding our cast, to having a location to shoot, your generosity will enable us as creatives to make sure everyone is supported in the best possible way. Donations such as yours are critical to helping us cover these essentials. Regardless of the size of the donation, every single one counts to letting this film be as successful as it can be.
We both have struggled with our identities; with the push and pull of either not being ‘Asian enough’ or not being 'White enough'. And with the lack of representation, we understand the struggle and loss of identity many POC feel. The story of Poppy is one that is hard to watch but deserves to be heard. Our voices deserve to be heard. Your voices deserve to be heard.
Thank you very much,
Hunter & Erin
