YAMI Sounz Summit
Lake Wanaka SouNZ Inc | Music
The Project
We have such talented musicians in our nation, and YAMI aims to assist in the training, guidance and support networks for their craft.
With an ultimate goal of assisting the Creative Industries in becoming one of our nation's top 20 exports, YAMI recognises the importance of crafting excellent music, and creating an effective infrastructure to support the music-makers.
Lake Wanaka SouNZ Inc
The not-for-profit group was set up in 1997 to promote NZ music. Since then it has staged numerous events, festivals, fundraisers and workshops, and donated over $90000 back to (mainly) the local region.
Working with a minimal staff who are putting in numerous volunteer hours, the tutors and speakers themselves are also showing their support by generously gifting their knowledge with the next creators of Aotearoa's inspiring music.
Our tutors and speakers have notable experience within their fields whether as musicians, managers or producers.
Including Anika Moa, Barnaby Weir (The Black Seeds), Mu (Fat Freddy's Drop), Warren Maxwell (TrinityRoots), MC Tali, Craig Pearce (Manager, The Phoenix Foundation, The Black Seeds), plus numerous representatives from the audio and broadcasting sides of the industry, we could not be happier with the line up for our first YAMI.
Lake Wanaka SouNZ Inc, Creative Communities, NZ on Air, NZ Music Commission, Air NZ, QLDC, Upper Clutha Arts Council and local sponsors have all assisted with funding to get the summit to its current state of readiness.
We are requesting a final $5000 to help fund the workshops and showcases, and ensure the experience for those attending is unforgettable.
In this way, we hope to offer YAMI as a regular feature in the South Island Arts calendar, and continue to assist in supporting and enriching the careers of the creators of tomorrow. We aim to be self-supporting in all future summits.
This is where you all come in. Please consider joining our wonderful troop of supporters by contributing what you feel you can. If you cannot donate financially, consider spreading the word through your network to help us attain our goal of staging an effective, productive summit.
As well as being able to claim the tax back on your donation, we believe you are undoubtedly investing in the future of New Zealand music. A mighty thing to be sure!
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou - thank you so much for your support.
