Wood Fired Kiln (Wood Fuel) Fundraiser
Jack Tilson | Multi Discipline
Overview
Fundraiser towards supporting FREE clay making workshops in Auckland (Tāmaki Makaurau) run by Jack Tilson and friends.
The workshops operate in libraries, community centers and public art galleries. The spaces chosen are accessible and have lots of foot traffic.
Local clay is sourced from sustainable sites such as landslips, road cuttings or construction spaces and is transformed into workable 'clay'.
In 2020 Jack Tilson built a 'Wood Fired K.iln' that operates using waste pine wood as a fuel. The kiln fires quickly and efficiently. It is made from high quality 'recycled' materials such as bricks.
Jack uses his kiln to fire people's creations for FREE. The kiln 'glazes' the pieces naturally as the fire and ash land on the pots creating random patterns.
