Woman
Bronte Ennis | Film
Overview
Woman is an 8-10 minute drama coming of age film centered around Eva (22) who has an accidental pregnancy with her long-term boyfriend, Jacob (24).
Due to the timing and nature of her pregnancy, she is in no way prepared to be a mother and wants to terminate the pregnancy. Her decision to do this is made harder as she fears this may be her only shot at motherhood with the risk of infertility looming over her due to her severe endometriosis. She feels the weight of judgment surrounding her as she discusses her internal conflict with her mtf trans roommate Angel (22) who yearns for the ability to have a biological child of her own.
About Woman:
Eva's decision about her pregnancy is made harder as she fears this may be her only shot at motherhood with the risk of infertility looming over her due to her severe endometriosis. She feels the weight of judgment surrounding her as she discusses her internal conflict with her mtf trans roommate Angel (22) who yearns for the ability to have a biological child of her own. Woman will explore ideas of femininity, womanhood, tradition and expectation in a modern patriarchal society. It will challenge what it means to be defined as a woman and the struggles that go hand in hand with this identity.
Our story also explores the unspoken struggles of life with endometriosis, the weight of being unable to bear children, and the expectation of what a "real woman" is in a nuanced, genuine, and impactful conversation between friends.
Why we need your help:
We strongly believe that this film needs to exist to show a realistic representation of women’s health issues in the media (particularly endometriosis, pregnancy, and transitioning) and how these issues impact so much more than just our physical bodies. We need your help to make our film as genuine, and authentic as possible.
Our target goal to bring Woman to life is $6,500. Your donations will go towards:
- Paying our wonderful actors
- Location & travel fees
- Feeding our cast and crew
