Wilbur Force

The Project
Hi,
We are Veronica Stevenson (Producer) and J.Ollie Lucks (Director). We were fortunate to have been selected by Loading Docs 2015 and are making a documentary short called WILBUR FORCE.
We wrote a smashing SYNOPSIS about it too:
"Wilbur Force" bursts into the wrestling arena, insulting the audience as he strides to face his nemesis in the ring. For him winning isn't everything: it's the only thing. Two years later, Will has quit everything that matters, including wrestling, and moved back to his hometown. Filmmaker and estranged friend Ollie challenges Will to reconnect with happier days by giving him a mission - to teach Ollie his signature finishing move: the 'big man body slam.'
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:
Ollie met Will more than a decade ago in Theatre101 at Otago Uni. Will was the guy in the back, yelling inappropriate remarks at inappropriate times, disrupting the flow of the class which greatly annoyed Ollie: the German sitting in the front row. Will has the ability to tease you to your bones without ever really offending. His remarks come from a place of warmth and affection and through him ripping into Ollie's German navet, the two became good friends. Being a filmmaker, Ollie was forced to move around a lot and eventually lost contact with Will.
Will started wrestling in 2009 and found his calling; struting through the ring, insulting the audience (which mainly consisted of young kids). Since he stopped wrestling in 2012, Will has lost a public outlet for his improvised riffs.
We see Wilbur Force as a chance to put Will's talents on display for the world to see. To make a film that reminds audiences of the importance to hold onto the best version of themselves.
THANK YOU for being part of this journey! Stay tuned for regular updates on WILBUR FORCE.
