WHY DO DOGS RETURN TO THEIR VOMIT
Joey Sheppard | Theatre
Overview
WHY DO DOGS RETURN TO THEIR VOMIT is a two woman theatre show written by recent Toi Whakaari graduate Joey Sheppard. Making it’s debut at Wellington's Fringe festival on the 28th February - 2nd March at Tapere iti, Te Auaha.
The show is a testament to being young and stuck in the same town you grew up in. To loving bad men who feel good and the deep sacredness of feminine friendship.
SHOW SYNOPSIS
Join Sharnie and Bea for a classic girls night out. Drinking, drama, drugs… dogs? A filthy love affair with New Zealand party culture, loving your mates and never saying what you mean. Clock off the works, then hikoi to the smokers area of the club, meet a dog, have a cry and dance so hard you’ll need a vape or you’ll vomit.
Help Sharnie and Bea get to the club by supporting our BOOSTED!
All funds will go towards the costs of hiring the space, paying our performers and crew, the local Wellington DJs helping craft the soundtracks and ensuring we can produce the best show for you to enjoy.
ABOUT US
The Bunker Collective is a fresh new cohort of young emerging arts practitioners. The kaupapa of the collective structures around the idea of collaborative ways of working. Everyone on board can learn or gain something from someone else. Each artist has the autonomy and expertise over their knowledge to then share and give with others whilst still learning and receiving as well. Creating a working environment of equals. Upholding company values of Manaakitanga and Whakawhanaungatanga.
A connective working process across departments involving sharing kai and sharing space are what we believe generates joyous and beautiful art that fuels the community in return.
Creative co-directors Joey Sheppard and Thomas Steinmann are passionate about telling the stories of the people they believe get forgotten. Of ordinary people that get overlooked. Of messy, silly and strange moments in time that allow audiences to suspend belief for a while and dream. Do we believe that our art can help make people kinder? We’d like to hope so. I mean who knows at least they’ll be laughing along the way.
