Whenua to the Holland Dance Festival

GET WHENUA TO THE HOLLAND DANCE FESTIVAL

The New Zealand Dance Company (NZDC) have been invited to the Netherlands, Germany and the prestigious Holland Dance Festival in early 2024 to premiere our double bill programme, "Whenua". This tour is an exciting opportunity to showcase our distinctive Kiwi talent. But, we need the support of Aotearoa (that's you!) to help get us there.

"Whenua" celebrates our deep connection to land and nature. Choreographers Malia Johnston and Rodney Bell (Ngāti Maniapoto), along with collaborators Rowan Pierce (AV, Spatial and Lighting Design) and Eden Mulholland (Composition), explore our relationship with the environment in "Imprint". Paired with Eddie Elliott's (Ngāti Maniapoto) "Uku - Behind the Canvas", this mesmerising double bill will transport audiences through the beauty and power of New Zealand's landscape.

The Holland Dance Festival annually hosts distinguished dance companies from around the globe. For NZDC, this tour marks a return to the international stage, our first since 2019, after the pandemic halted plans to share our unique mahi with the world.

We've been part of the Holland Dance Festival twice before, and both times, Boosted campaigns played a key role in making it happen (we love you peeps). Your generosity has allowed us to represent New Zealand and share our passion for dance with audiences from all corners of the world.

NZDC receives funding from Creative New Zealand to support our international tours but we do require other funding sources to make it overseas and that’s where you come in.

To get the Company to Europe, we need to raise $15,000 (that’s only 2,500 takeaway coffees!). Your support will contribute to air travel expenses for our touring party of twelve.
