"What are Sisters For?"

The Project
SYNOPSIS
"Ever since Amelia could remember, when she grew up, she wanted to be just like her big sister Laura. Now the pair have grown up. Laura's flat is cold, most of her dinners come out of tupperware containers, and she spends an alarming amount of time looking through gossip magazines and watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Amelia is moving to Wellington to study (and to be closer to Laura). However, when the sisters reunite they are confronted with past truths and family secrets that can't be kept hidden forever. Wallflower Productions presents: "What are Sisters For?" an intimate storytelling of a relationship between two sisters - this coming of age tale navigates isolation, grief, and a shared childhood. But, underneath this family's feud there is a friendship worth preserving."
WHY SUPPORT US?
Your donations help to directly support Pōneke creatives! This funding will allow our actors and production crew to be recognised for the intense mahi we are putting into our show season - and it would help us in covering show costs too!
Our show reflects relevant topics of mental health within Aotearoa and speaks to experiences of chronic illness - we feel strongly about bringing awareness to these topics in a manner which is handled with grace and empathy. By supporting us, you are helping to create these conversations and provide a platform for our stories to be told.
Wallflowers is a theatre company which is dedicated to sharing fem/queer/non-cis stories - we bring you tales from the outside to hold and hear. From the Wallflowers team to you, we really value your support to our team and we cannot wait to share our production with you.
