Welcome to Graft

The Project
Kia Ora, I'm Ursula Grace, documentary filmmaker, and I'm looking to make more local documentaries about interesting and important people within our communities. Last year my film The King won the audience award at the NZIFF marking the beginning of my filmmaking career.
This year I have been selected to be a part of the Loading Docs Initiative 2017, an incredible launch pad for NZ filmmakers like me. As a part of this selection my team and I are making a three minute documentary 'Welcome to Graft' to celebrate the theme of DIVERSITY.
________
What did your neighbourhood look like 100 years ago?
Artist John Radford and his alter ego, employee real estate agent Ron Jadford, are building and selling two-hundred-and-fifty-six highly detailed miniature replicas of early 1900's suburban bay villas.
Fixated on the destruction of inner city domestic architecture, the work comprises two hillside precincts from his imagined suburban oblivion.
Enter - the real estate agent Ron Jadford: spray tanned, dark tinted sunglasses, cellphone clamped to his ear, combed moustache. He's selling the houses off the plan.
This major sculptural installation GRAFT is also an on-going participatory performance
What will exist where you live 100 years from now?
________
Loading Docs, along with pricipal partners NZ on Air, the New Zealand Film Commision, and Te Mangai Paho, have started us out with an awesome $4,000 dollars. However, we don't get that money unless we can reach our Boosted campaign goal of $2,000. When we reach our goal, the funds are released and we can make Welcome to Graft.
Thank you for taking the time to check out our project profile and pitch video. Every little bit counts and we really appreciate your kind donation!
