Overview

The Wunderbar is one of New Zealand’s oldest and most iconic live music venues. With over 29 years of wild tales, epic nights and mind-altering moments, this bar has created many amazing memories.

We have had many amazing musicians and performers play at our place from Adam McGrath, Delaney Davidson, Marlon Williams, Aldous Harding, Holly Smith, Tali, The Settlers, Al Park, Racing and Tomas Ford.

The Wunderbar is internationally renowned, especially for its toilets. With a reputation for helping kiwi artists, we have provided a free venue for our musicians to play for decades.

Over the last year we have invested heavily in upgrading our sound, rebuilding and curtaining our stage, with renovations ongoing. We now have our own in-house sound engineer. We’ve invested everything we have to make the Wunderbar the best small live music venue in NZ.

But now we need your help.

Every dollar we made last year was invested back into the bar and used to support our musicians and pay our staff a fair wage. When Covid-19 hit we used all our personal savings to ensure all our bills were paid and our staff were retained. Running the Wunderbar is a passion project and an investment in our local music industry.

All money earned from gigs goes to the bands. We love this bar, we love our musicians and we love you, our customers and fans. We know you share the passion we have for the Wunderbar because you’ve told us. Thank you.

We want to provide many more amazing memories for you. We’re looking for as much as you can give, to help us survive and get through the winter months. If you’ve ever had a night to remember at the Wunderbar, then please support us.

The Wunderbar brings people together. It’s where memories are made and nights are treasured. Where the staff are fabulous and the views are to die for. You can get so close to your favourite musician that you can touch them, and you can experience the most intimate and mind-blowing live gigs.

Save the Wunderbar and save one of New Zealand’s very best live music venues.

Whether it’s $5, $10 or $100, every little bit counts.

And if you’re not able to donate, please share this page with as many people as you can, with a memory of why *you* love the Wunderbar.  Anything you can do to help, would mean the world to us.

Save the Wunderbar. Donate or share now.  We need you.
