Overview
#SAVEOURVENUES #WELOVENECKOFTHEWOODS
As artists, DJs and promoters we’re rallying our community to save Neck of the Woods. Our scene has thrived here and we, like a lot of people in Auckland's diverse music scene, have come to think of it as our own.
Since 2015, Neck of the Woods has been a haven for underground electronic music, cutting-edge hip-hop, and an astonishingly diverse range of bands and live performers. It’s delivered crazily intimate shows with international heavy-hitters, housed some of Aotearoa’s most established acts, and helped nurture up and coming local talent.
Its inclusive vibe and passion for music and community makes Neck of the Woods a huge part of our local music scene and we - the artists, event organisers and punters - can’t afford to lose it.
Without venues, there are no shows. Without shows, artists can’t survive. Without artists… well let's not even consider that as an option.
Covid-19 measures mean Neck of the Woods has been shut down since mid-March and it’s uncertain when they’ll be able to open again. With no revenue and rent and other costs piling up, there is a very real chance Neck of the Woods will not make it through without our community’s help.
We’re calling on you to do two things:
- Donate! Give whatever you’re able, every little bit helps. If everyone of us who came through the doors in the last 12 months donated even just $10 each, we'd smash the funding goal.
- Share the link to this fundraising page with the hashtags #weloveneckofthewoods and #saveourvenues everywhere you can. Post it with a shoutout or your favourite memory from Neck of the Woods.
We’re asking you, our community, to rally with us behind one of our favourite music venues. When we emerge from this strange time, we will need this place: a place for us all to play, put on shows, and come together with friends.
While we're personally linked by the local DnB community, we're invested in all of Auckland’s diverse music scene. We want to see everyone in it not only survive but thrive in this new future... and that means ensuring the survival of venues like Neck of the Woods.
