#WELOVEMEOW #SAVEOURVENUES #SAVEOURVENUESNZ
Nestled in the centre of Wellington, Meow is the musical living room to the city. For over ten years we have had the great honor and pleasure of being a centre for live music of all genres and it’s wider community and we want to continue to do that.
But a small music venue is about more than just the musicians; it is also the sound techs, the lighting techs, the tour managers, the staff, the security, the cleaners and of course the patrons, we would be nothing without the music fans It is the coming together to enjoy live music, to enjoy a reading, a political debate, to share an experience with each other. For us it is our home, it is where our children are growing up, surrounded by people living and doing what they love.
It is a very difficult decision to ask for help, like other small venues in New Zealand Meow shares a fierce independence, but right now our industry faces an uncertain future and Meow the very real risk of having to shut down. Covid-19 has wiped out the security which we had built up with over ten years in operation, this is usually the period where we make money which tides us over the dips which come in winter and summer. We are still paying full rent, we are still paying our staff and how long we can continue to do this is uncertain. We need your help.
We are calling on you to do two things:
- Donate! Give whatever you’re able, every little bit helps.
- Share the link to this fundraising page with the hashtags #welovemeow and #saveourvenues and share your memories of Meow.
We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Cabana #welovethecabana for nominating us in this campaign and the #saveourvenues team.
