WE LOVE DOG WITH TWO TAILS

In the heart of Dunedin is the bohemian musical hub that is The Dog With Two Tails. It is a place to feel alive and human. Our venue has become a community hub for artists, musos and creatives, but due to the pandemic the future of this great little venue is now in doubt. Please, help us to save it.

Dog with Two Tails took over the space next door a little over a year ago. We named it Bark! It was sophisticated jazz, it was delicate and soulful singer-songwriters, it was sweaty, bumping rock, it was insightful pecha kucha, it was overspill from the quiz night, it was the blues, and poetry. Mostly, it was a place for musicians, comedians, dancers, talkers and lovers of these arts to come together.

Bark! was built by people with a passion for live music for musicians and out of love for the local music community. It was built to connect lovely, creative people to the people of Dunedin; get you all together, in synch to the vibe and to merge with the people around you: it wasn’t built for isolation. The venue opening was a big investment in Dunedin’s music scene for a small business to make, however, it costs a lot to keep open and still costs a lot to keep closed.

That´s why we ask you for your help. We’re aiming to raise $15 000 through this campaign, which would ensure that we will be there for you and our artists once life returns to our streets. If you’ve enjoyed several nights out at Bark! or days in at the Dog and want to experience that again, please donate $20 to this cause. If you met your current partner at the cafe and bar (best place to take a first date) and you’ve survived lockdown because of each other, please donate $25 each.

This Boosted campaign is part of a nationwide awareness drive under the banner of Boosted LIVE presents #SAVEOURVENUES.

Run by a dedicated committee of music lovers (including Reb Fountain, Matthew Crawley (Golden Dawn / Strange News, Lucy Macrae & Tom Anderson (Whammy Bar), Rohan Evans (The Wine Cellar) and Reuben Bonner (Banished Music)), the #SAVEOURVENUES team seek to unite in support of Aotearoa's live music venues and music scene. To raise awareness and funds and trigger a national response strategy in support of a thriving musical culture in New Zealand.

#saveourvenues aim is to help generate support for crucial, original, small live music venues right across New Zealand, in cities and towns. And they are calling on everyone to help. Anyone can do it – artists, audience members, reviewers, techies, promoters – all of us.  First up – please donate now – chip in what you can to make a difference. Next - using the hashtags #saveourvenues and #welovedogwithtwotails post your own video or photo with your memory of the venue as a response and share this with your community along with the link to this page so that your friends can donate too.

Please support your local venues. They need you.
