WALK lightly Ōtautahi Fashion Show

WALK lightly Ōtautahi is an event first of its kind, the pilot show for an annual showcasing of sustainable, home-grown fashion labels. Your donation will get our designers on the catwalk!

WALK lightly Ōtautahi will be a night to celebrate the arts, in collaboration with local food, beverage and music, enabled by local sponsors to boost our sustainable fashion industry.

Our key focuses are

• Showcasing local designers

Through WALK lightly Ōtautahi, we will promote local fashion designers' sustainability efforts and advocate for local textile organisations through social media, at our launch event and with posters around town. Since March 2022, I have been on the hunt for local talent to join this project and our local talent is flaming high, plains and hills full! Meeting with all the creatives in fashion, and seeing them at work, has fanned this inferno.

We want to kick this prject off with a bang! The launch party will be celebration of local fashion, drinks included in the ticket, goodie bag, industrial sheek venue. The historically rich textile suburb of Sydenham (home to the last knit factory in NZ) will be our setting for a magical winter's night.

All goes dark, queue the music, spotlight centre stage, framed by freshly cut harakeke. The show starts with an opening you don’t want to miss. Be present and witness. As the show comes to an end, a unique opportunity opens for a close-up view of the collections and discussions with the designers. Horderves and drinks are served and the night continues.
