Tympanic - Short Film

WHAT IS TYMPANIC?

Tympanic is our take on the post apocalyptic story. Inspired by Movies and TV shows like A Quiet Place and The Last of Us. We wanted to make a universal thriller that can be enjoyed by all. It's a small story, but one that we want to do beautifully.

Conceived a year ago by a group of young film crew workers (us) over an early morning coffee, a small seed of an idea turned into a rather serious script with real potential. A horror/thriller with real emotional stakes and a tragedy at heart. 

A short visualizer captured the atmosphere and feel we were trying to achieve for the larger film. Using the actual main cast for the actual short, we're super proud of this film even though there's a much larger story to tell.

This has all carried us to the present. Myself, Jackson, and my DOP Michael are super excited to make this special short film we've been planning for so long. We've already secured a few locations for filming and are in an intensive pre-prod schedule designing the world.

Where will the funds go?

The funds raised from Boosted will be the lifeline this project needs to take it from an idea to film festivals around the world.

• Festival Entrance and Promotion - We intend to submit this film to festivals. We want this story to be seen!
• Locations/set - We have two locations, one run down abandoned location and a rundown house. Finding a house that fits our vision is tough. So, part of the funding will go to our Set Designer to ensure that we have the proper post apocalyptic look for the house, but also return it the way we found it!
• Stunts - Our film features a very serious fight scene at its conclusion - to ensure our talent's safety it is imperative that we have a proper stunt coordinator on set to guide this.
• Art/Make up - Without revealing too much, our Make Up Artist has to completely transform one the main characters into a creature that fits the world we are trying to sell.
• Crew - Without crew, and the proper access to gear each of them needs, then we don't have a film at all.
• Rental - We have a fair bit of kit that we need to rent to make sure we can capture this story right.
• Food - We gotta feed our amazing cast and crew!
• 10% to Boosted - Boosted takes 10% off the top of the overall raise target.

Risks and challenges

The real risk is not hitting our target goal of funding. Locations are close to locked in and the crew have their schedules free. Without us hitting our target goal none of this can work.
