Overview

WHAT IS TWINLESS?

May 1991: Clare was four months old when her twin sister died.

March 2021: Thirty years later she will spend time alone on stage with a hodgepodge of second hand memories, old documents and the ever present twinkling of unfamiliar grief. Journey with Clare as she explores the fog of loss, shining light upon its intricacies.

Twinless is a solo, deeply personal autobiographical show, in which Clare investigates her own origin story. It’s a story she has only recently begun to own. The show will feature home video footage, movement, heartfelt storytelling, recorded voices and a banging tune (or two). Elvis and Billy T James both get a reference.

The more Clare has studied (and experienced) grief, the more she has come to realise that it’s a universally felt and deeply complex experience. This work is specifically about the loss of her twin sister, and we hope it will illuminate the kaleidoscopic nature of loss.

Twinless contains a tragedy, but it is not tragic. Twinless seeks to expand hearts and tickle souls.

WHY IS YOUR SUPPORT NEEDED?

We’ve been programmed to perform for four nights in March 2021: 9th - 12th at Basement Theatre in Auckland. Awesome!

Your generous donations will go towards covering general production costs. This means: costume, props, set, feeding the creative team, marketing and crucially, covering the cost of hiring rehearsal space.

If donating is a stretch, we totally get it. Sharing this campaign with your friends is another great way to support us, and it helps us to spread the word about the show.
