The Details

Stevie McCabe, original member and songwriter of the legendary Christchurch band Axemen—noted in Kurt Cobain’s journals as one of his favourites—left an enduring musical legacy. In a gesture of artistic generosity, he gifted his song Festival of Saints to the current local band Outsiders.

Originally written and recorded as a demo by McCabe, this song now finds new life through the Outsiders, carrying forward his spirit and influence into a new era of music.

We are seeking funding to produce a music video for "Festival of Saints" and to cover the artwork and printing costs for the release.

This project is backed by an incredible team of supporters:
🎥 Stuart Page – Acclaimed artist, musician, and filmmaker.
📀 Matthias McGregor (Flying Nun) – Supporting distribution of the 45" vinyl.
🎶 Arnie Van Bussel (Nightshift Studios) – Recorded the Outsiders.
💜 Steve McCabe’s family – Providing their support and encouragement.

The record will be released on our own label, Burning Pavlova, and will be available both digitally via Bandcamp and physically through Flying Nun. The music video will also be linked via Bandcamp, ensuring a seamless connection between the visual and musical aspects of the project.

As a collective, Outsiders will develop and create the video, bringing our shared vision to life.

Your support will help us honour this project and bring "Festival of Saints" to a wider audience.

Thank you for being part of this journey!
