Tokorua Hei Kotahi (Two As One)

The Project
In the days following her grandmother's passing and preparing for the tangi, 12 year old Anahera’s grief externalises as a mirror version of herself which becomes more prevalent as she disconnects with her mixed cultural identity.
ABOUT THE FILM
TOKORUA HEI KOTAHI is a 12 minute short film that highlights the experiences of those that walk in two worlds, that feel unable to connect and try to bring relatability to the screen and confidence for them to feel able to connect with their cultural identity.
This film has been selected as a capstone for the 2022 Te Herenga Waka Master’s of Fine Arts final projects. The film will promote tangata whenua, indigenous and multicultural stories, not only in Aotearoa but internationally. It is a relatable narrative to many and doesn’t get spoken about enough in the media.
The importance of this film’s story is significant, it is not only a personal one to the writer and director but to many Māori and Pasifika in Aotearoa and for mixed people across the world.
We are very excited to be able to share this with you and bring light to these experiences, but we need your help to make it a reality.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Boosted is an ALL OR NOTHING platform - so every dollar counts and we need your support to raise $3000 for the film to be made. We are a small production company, but would love to be able to pay our actors, feed our cast and crew, and give koha to our beautiful locations, including Waiwhetu Marae.
We would also love to thank our cultural advisor and translator who are graciously helping us to make this film as authentic as possible and we are working with local iwi to make tikanga māori a priority.
Production costs are expensive, but they are crucial towards making this film a reality! Your koha will go towards post-production costs such as:
-
- Visual Effects
- Catering
- Cast
- Music Composition
- Location
- Distribution (national & international festivals)
Additional funds will be given as koha to our incredible crew and others that have helped us throughout this journey.
