"One Year On" - out this Thursday 20 August!
Kia Ora to all our wonderful Boosted supporters.
We’re excited to announce that after five months of production and a global pandemic, our short documentary, One Year On (previously titled This Is Us) is complete.
Our story follows former refugee and community advocate, Guled Mire in the lead up to the one-year commemoration of the Christchurch mosque attacks. When the event is overshadowed by a national health crisis, frustration starts to grow at the lack of change. Struggling to get his perspective heard and at a personal crossroads, Guled worries that the opportunity to confront racism and islamophobia has passed. Can he stand up once more to make a difference?
If you want to know more about Guled, check out last week’s article on him by Stuff
One Year On goes live this Thursday the 20th of August at Loading Docs. We’re so proud of this film and we would’ve never been able to complete it without your support.
But we still need your help!
We need as many eyes as possible on the film, so please watch and share the link with your networks! We’ll send another email out on Thursday with a direct link to the documentary.

PHEW! We’ve made it to the end of our Boosted campaign and could not be happier!
Another big round of thanks to our contributors for your support. From the ones who gave us a jump start at the beginning, to those who donated right up until the last minute of the campaign. For all the messages of praise and support and to our anonymous donors, we see you and appreciate you ALL!
This Is Us has raised $5,947.22, a number that far exceeded our expectations. As we head into production, it’s heartening to know that there are so many people that care about this topic and our documentary. We have lots to film this weekend and I can’t wait for our team to be together in one city. Not only to capture our documentary, but to stand together as one at the March 15th commemorations in Christchurch.

THANK YOU
Introducing our new team member!
Thanks to your support we’ve been able to hire a second camera operator, the amazing Dylan Patel!
Dylan is our resident film nerd (he can quote the Lord of the Rings trilogy word-for-word) and camera fanatic. He’s passionate about anything camera related, but has worked in a variety of departments on both small and large-scale features as well as short films, music videos and web-series. Most of his experience to date has been in the camera department as a focus puller or camera assistant.
‘This Is Us’ will give him the opportunity to stretch his creative abilities and hone his skills as a cinematographer.
Dylan’s looking forward to working with this crew and playing his part in telling this important story
Only 8 days left to go on our crowdfunding campaign! Can you help us reach our stretch goal?
WE MADE IT TO OUR TARGET! But it's not over yet...
What else is there left to say but another THANK YOU! All the donations, messages of support, likes and shares, the CONVERSATION! This experience has been incredible for our whole team
… But it’s not over yet!
We now have 20 days to reach our stretched target goal: $4,500. Help us lock in a second camera operator so that we capture every moment of this observational style doco.
Post-production is often forgotten about… But it’s where the magic happens! We are lucky to have Loading Docs fund some of these costs, but we still need to fund a sound designer and composer.
You can help us reach this!! If we can raise 2,500 in less than 48 hours, then we have no doubt there is enough support out there to help us reach one more target!
Thank you once again from our team. Please see below for a video of me jumping for every dollar we can raise in 20 days!!
