The Yellow Wallpaper
Yellow Cat Collective | Multi Discipline
Overview
Kia ora.
Hey you! You've found yourself at the Yellow Cat Collective Boosted page, well done! We (Liz & Abi) are so glad you're here! Can you tell from our grins!?
We would love your help.
We’re growing as a theatre company and that means that our budget has outgrown our pockets. Luckily, our pants still fit! Funding this project will give emerging artists the opportunity to work in a 60 seat venue with professional lighting and high quality audio equipment. By supporting this Boosted campaign, you are affording young artists the chance to evolve as creators, while bringing the dream of this production to life.
To date, we have sold out every single show, which means there is an interested audience we are not able to serve right now. Help us serve our audience! Help us serve you!
Our $4200 Goal.
Your donation will go towards paying for:
- The venue! So we can do our show in a bigger space with better equipment.
- Performers! So we can enhance the show with additional dancers.
- Costumes! So we can clothe those additional dancers.
- Set Materials! So we can dream bigger with our depiction of the wallpaper.
- Photoshoot! So we can entice you all to come.
- Team development/workshops! So we can improve as performers and creators.
- Lighting designer salary! So we can finally stop using flood lights and bask in the magic of theatre lighting design.
About Us.
Yellow Cat Collective was started in 2019 by Abi Sucsy and Liz Butler: two artists with vastly different artistic backgrounds, but both with the same drive to create.
Liz has over fifteen years of theatre experience directing and producing shows both in Wellington and in the United States. Abi comes from a science background and began studying dancing and drawing in Wellington. We came together, so we could tell stories in sensual and colourful ways and to create unique experiences for audiences.
Our mission is to create performing opportunities for ourselves and other establishing artists.
What sets Yellow Cat’s shows apart is that the artists are creating work that’s supported by the company, and they’re all teaching each other skills along the way.
We strive to tell stories that feature blending and complimentary artforms, often focused on feminist or queer themes. Our 2021 Fringe show (The Yellow Wallpaper) adapted the early short story, “The Yellow Wallpaper” into a dance theatre piece, and re-examined themes of isolation and perceptions of women’s mental and physical health.
Any and all support from you would be so hugely appreciated!
Thank you,
The Yellow Cat Collective.

Project Updates
Birthday Week!
We blew out our candles and all our wishes came true! THANK YOU!
Thanks to your enthusiastic support we have accomplished more for the campaign in its first week than we ever expected! A whopping 93% funded in just one week?! That's already a success story in our book!
This week we celebrated the one year anniversary of Yellow Cat Co existing. And boy did we feel proud with everyone's generous donations pouring in. It was a lot of work to change gears and jump right from show mode to crowdfunding mode but seeing your shares and messages to us has given us so much encouragement to keep going.
This next week we will focus on ~Vulnerability~, as it is a vulnerable feeling to ask our community and the world for support. Be on the lookout on our socials as we share photos taken by the talented Aimée Sullivan dedicated to this theme (these ones are our favourite!)
We only need $252.30! We have come so far! Let's see where we can go by the end of Week 2!
Thank you for your continued support!
