The Wizard of Wellington
The Wizard of Wellington | Film
Overview
Kia ora!
This story welcomes you to the the humble streets of Wellington, Aotearoa, where a man with a huge ego claims to be the Wizard of Wellington. He meets Tommy, a spirited school boy who likes to test out the dogs chocolate intolerance at the bus stop, and an unlikely friendship is born.
Truths are revealed of this 'wizard's' true identity and shit hits the fan. What is the green smoke spell? Why is he handing a small bag of oregano to this dodgy guy on the bus? How does the wizard know my mum?
Why should you care?
You walk past these two characters every day on your way to work or school...They represent the unheroic and painfully normal ordinary we all exist in. We feel finding the extraordinary in the ordinary is something that should be conveyed on screen more often. It's also something we should all stop overlooking in our own lives.
Why do we need your money?
Funding is a crucial part of this project to make it a reality. As university students hoping to make it to film festivals and reach the audiences we want to reach, the high quality production standard we are aiming for isn't a cheap!
- Actors
We plan on paying our actors. With your help we can feed them, water them, and ensure a smile on their dial throughout the whole process.
- Locations
The film has various filming locations. Funding will help us acquire the right spaces (including the most ambitious; a bus!)
- Film festivals
Entering into film festivals is goal of ours and funding will help us achieve this.
- Crew
We also plan on ensuring we can look after our crew. We have a week to film which means long days on our feet. Providing catering for our crew and cast will make the world of a difference.
Who are we?
We are uni students finishing our Bachelor in Screen Arts Degree at Massey, Wellington. We have been lucky enough to learn from the best, and this final year is our chance to put our filmmaking skills to the test. We are extremely excited to learn and grow throughout this process, as well as make something people will love (and actually laugh at). Anything you can do to support us on this journey is greatly appreciated.
