The Project
New episodes of The Witching Hours are coming to life! There are nine new radio dramas for your dastardly delight in the lab right now, getting ready to be performed LIVE and in the flesh this Halloween, then distributed in the months that follow. Working on the project are no less than 18 Aotearoa creatives who want this work accessible to all – can you help us make that happen?
The Witching Hours aims to be a living wage project. That means $7488 to simply write these little monstrosities! Live performance has taken a massive hit in 2020 and now is the time to value the work of our most unpredictable industry.
At every $666, we will have just enough to brew a brand-new episode. Join us around our cauldron of delectable and dastardly concoctions and watch as all nine episodes boil and bubble.
This season we have expanded our writing team so you can expect more shockingly unique storylines from fresh brains:
Season 3 of The Witching Hours features the writing of modern master of mystery and mirth Uther Dean alongside Eamonn Marra, Abby Howells, Emilie Hope, and Jonny Potts. All episodes are narrated by droll darling of drama and delight Jonny Potts and feature sound design and live foley by Oliver Devlin. Also featuring a cast of local legends every night and REAL GHOSTS!
Your Snapper card is possessed and has a taste for blood! Siri is getting murderously envious of my relationship with Alexa. A sourdough starter has turned savage! There’s scalding magic in this tea… What has happened to the Starship Samurais? Oh, and the mayor is a monster. Literally!
Our live recorded season is also proud to be a fully-accessible live experience for blind and low vision audience.
We are thrilled (in a good way) to have received Wellington City Council Arts & Culture support for the live production elements of our Halloween Spooktacular season at BATS Theatre. We are already one foot in the door – now just to jump to left… And take a step to the right….
The Witching Hours (Season 3) // 27 – 31 October at BATS Theatre // Coming to a streaming platform in your home soon!
