The Wedding - Melbourne Fringe

A Fool's Company are taking The Wedding to Melbourne Fringe Festival in October 2023, and we need your help to get there! The Wedding is a glorious evening of comedic gothic horror. Combining elements of physical theatre and clowning, the show explores marriage, sexuality, and puritanism. Premiering in 2022 and returning in 2023 at Basement Theatre, The Wedding has sold out two Auckland seasons, and are also heading to Little Andromeda in Christchurch before crossing the ditch.

ABOUT OUR MELBOURNE FRINGE TOUR:

The Wedding will be playing at the Cracked Actors Theatre 18th - 22nd October 2023. Not only will this be the first overseas tour as a company, but we will be the first ever international act to perform a work at Cracked Actors Theatre!

Melbourne Fringe Festival has long been a jumping off point for NZ artists who wish to share their work with wider international audiences, as well as being a home for shows that want to give audiences something new, exciting, and challenging to experience - which is what A Fool's Company are all about!

WHY WE NEED A BOOST:

A Fool's Company are a self funded theatre company, meaning our founding company members have invested personal funds into our productions - up until now. One of our core company kaupapa is commitment to devising and producing sustainable theatre works; a part of this includes making works that are universal and tourable, to have life beyond a single theatre season.

While we have been able to secure our Venue and Fringe Festival registration with profit generated from our previous sell-out seasons, we just need one final boost to get us across the ditch, opening doors to showing wider Australasian audiences what we do.

Boosted Donations will cover our flights and accommodation for our team of 6. Every single contribution and share will help!

Melbourne Fringe Festival is a big professional step up for our team, and so we are looking for help from our crowd to get us to the Australian shores, and show their audiences a good time!

WHY MELBOURNE FRINGE FESTIVAL, WHY NOW?

Our goal for 2023 was to tour The Wedding internationally, and step onto an international stage in order to bring A Fool's Company into our next stage as a theatre collective and business. Melbourne Fringe Festival provides the opportunities, community and support that we know will help A Fool's Company to succeed and continue to make hilarious, meaningful, and sustainable theatre works in the years to come.

We know that the world will love The Wedding, as our beloved Tāmaki Makaurau guests have, and we hope that love extends to helping us bring that to Melbourne in 2023!
