Overview
A GRIPPING NOIR TALE OF LOVE, DECEIT, AND DESPERATION.
WHAT IS OUR FILM ABOUT?
When Sam Rogers, a wealthy businessman, learns over dinner that his best friend Jack, and the woman he loves, Catherine, are to be married he concocts a sinister plan to murder Jack and constructs a seemingly perfect alibi to execute his plan. On the night of the crime, Sam invites Jack to a party. As Jack arrives, he is murdered before he can enter the club, and his body is left in his car. Despite being absent for only a few minutes, the other partygoers believe Sam never left, providing him with thirty honest witnesses to his unshakeable alibi.
However, the plot takes a tragic turn when Catherine is arrested, tried, and convicted with the murder after a bloody handkerchief is found. Sam, realizing the gravity of his actions and unable to live with the consequences, tries desperately to confess to the crime. He reaches out to the police, the district prosecutor, and witnesses from the party, but his alibi is ironclad, and it seems his plan has worked too perfectly.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a group of enthusiastic and passionate Screen Arts Massey University students looking to make a thrilling, captivating and entertaining film sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!
OUR WHY:
Written by our Director, Earnest.
My love for this time period, first and foremost cannot be understated. Beauty is created in even the simplest of objects, and when combined with the noir genre with its grungy urban environments, the time period makes for fantastic, visually interesting shots and beautiful atmospheres and compositions.
The story itself is enough to stand on its own. The themes of lust, betrayal, regret, and ultimate justice are obscenities that live deep within the recesses of the human mind, and therefore make for a deeply attractive story that contains compelling messages that are easily understood and relatable to all audiences.

WHERE WILL YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS GO?
FOOD
We would love to feed everyone on set every day to keep everyone energized and happy! This will include up to three meals a day and craft service!
ACTORS
We would love to pay our actors a fair and reasonable rate for their hard work and dedication to bringing this film to life!
ART DEPARTMENT
Because this is a period film set in the 1940's we need to source a lot of vintage and retro items for props and set dressings, as well as accurate costumes, hair and makeup. We would also use the funds to pay for some of the amazing locations we have lined up!
TRANSPORT
We will need transport to safely and swiftly bring cast and crew to and from set, as well as transporting all the gear we will need for the day.
EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!
We greatly appreciate any and all donations to our project, no matter how big or small! It goes a long way in helping us make the best film we can (and having fun while doing it)!
We will be updating on our social media account, as well as through email if any of you would like to receive regular updates!
Thanks so much for checking out our page!
Project Updates
FILMING HAS BEGUN!
"The Too Perfect Alibi" is officially in production!
We started our week at the Embassy Theatre on Monday morning, before heading to the historic Katherine Mansfield House in the evening. There were some first day stresses, like always, but we pulled through and managed to get some great footage!
Day 2 was a little cold and wet but we managed to find a break in the rain to film our outdoor scenes. In the end the rain only added to the moody atmosphere so it all worked out well in the end!
Day 3 was a busy one! We filmed our party scene with all our extras, so if was awesome seeing them all dressed up in 40's dresses and suits! We also got to do some set dressing to turn the Tea Gardens at Massey University into a fancy vintage club!
