The Three Wives of Antony (Antony and Cleopatra)
Indecisive Productions | Theatre
Overview
Kia Ora Koutou!
We are the notoriously indecisive, Indecisive Productions! A collective of queer fems, thems, and hims located in windy Poneke!
Our kaupapa aims to give traditionally male oriented stories a new, more feminine angle to consider! Our team is made up primarily of emerging female and queer practitioners – giving more feminine and queer creatives the ability to do what they do best!
We are ECSTATIC to be bringing you our very first show - The Three Wives of Antony
"What's the play about?"
Shakespearean classic but make it fiercely feminine!
Antony and Cleopatra follows Mark Antony. HIS story of war. HIS struggle for power (and a little love on the side). This is HISTORY – but we are looking at HERSTORY.
The Three Wives of Antony reframes the story to focus on our criminally underrated and underappreciated WOMEN. Follow Fulvia, Octavia, and of course, Queen Cleopatra and see the classic from a new perspective! With the focus now shifted from the traditional masculine narrative to a more female-centric re-telling. A guaranteed campy, witty, and charmingly feminist take on a Shakespearean Classic - three previously overlooked female characters come alive in a "Man's World”.
Co-written by Chenae Philips and Rosie Maurz, The Three Wives of Antony is set to debut in Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington’s SIX DEGREES FESTIVAL (2024) THIS DECEMBER.
"Amazing! So, what's the funding for?"
Reframing Shakespeare is no easy task – and then there’s the usual trials and tribulations of theatre making! Putting on a show is hard work and it would not be possible without all the efforts of our incredible cast and crew. Each and every single person is putting in long hours to bring our vision to you live on stage, but we now need your help!
We strongly believe in paying our team fair and equitable wages for all their hard work. Your contribution will go towards ensuring every collaborator is paid a fair wage, covering the costs of set design materials, as well as marketing expenses to get the word out there.
Every contribution helps us to ensure the success of our project, as well as the creative careers of many young and queer/femme practitioners!
Please consider donating if you are able! And If you aren’t able – that’s okay! Sharing our BOOSTED with your friends and whanau is also just as important!
Thank you for your support! Please share and donate today!
