The Red Room - WATCH NOW
Hello everyone!
We've just come back from Australia, seeing the film play at SXSW Sydney. It was a blast and the screenings were great!
Now that we are clear of festivals, we're happy to let you know The Red Room is now available to watch online by clicking here! The link is in this post. We hope you enjoy it!
Thank you again for all of your support in helping us get this made.

The Red Room heads to SXSW Sydney
Very proud to reveal that The Red Room will have its Australian premiere at SXSW Sydney in mid October.
We’re so thrilled to be playing at this festival and can’t wait for our friends over the ditch to check out the film!
The Red Room wins (joint) best film!
The Red Room has been awarded joint-best film, Nga Whanunga, at the 2024 NZIFF!
We are over the moon to share this news with you all and can’t wait for you all to see the film soon.

The NZIFF schedule is live! The Red Room will be playing as part of the Nga Whanaunga shorts section. For more details and how to get tickets, click here, find your region, then navigate to the Nga Whanaunga section.
Thank you!
NZIFF Premiere
Kia ora everyone!
Very happy to reveal The Red Room will have its Aotearoa New Zealand premiere at the NZIFF this July/August! The film will play as part of the Ngā Whanaunga section.
Dates and locations are yet to be announced, but as soon as they are I will update everyone here.
Thank you again for your continued support, and I hope you’re able to catch the film on the big screen!

The Red Room premiere
I’m very proud to announce that The Red Room is completed and will have its world premiere in New Orleans at the Overlook Film Festival.
This would not have been possible without your generosity and encouragement, so thank you once again for helping us get this film made!
Because of the strict premiere requirements film festivals require, we unfortunately are not allowed to post the film online or hold public screenings until the short has completed its festival run. I anticipate this to be in the second half of 2024.
We are looking to organise a private screening in Aotearoa in the near future so we can watch the film together and celebrate. We will keep you updated as to when and where this will happen.
Thank you all once again for your unwavering and ongoing support of Aotearoa New Zealand filmmaking

Submitted to SXSW
Hello everyone!
Alex here. I'm very happy to reveal that we've made the deadline for submission to the SXSW festival! This was the plan from the start and it's been a very quick turnaround from shooting through to editing, music composition and colour grading to have it ready but we've managed to pull it off!
I'll keep posting updates here as we continue to push through getting the film completely finished (sound design and sound mixing is still needed!) and await film festival notifications!
Cheers everyone
Alex
Less than a day to go!
Kia ora everyone!
We have less than a day to go on the Boosted but we still haven’t hit our target! A huge thank you once again to everyone who has supported us so far, but if we could ask you once more to please share the page and encourage others who may be on the fence to donate to the film! This is our last push to hit our target!
Boosted is and all-or-nothing campaign so if we don’t hit the target we don’t get any of the moolah!
Meanwhile, our editor Luke (pictured) is busy editing the film and readying it for submission to SXSW next week. It’s looking fantastic and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve made!

Cast announcement
Mālō e lelei/hello!
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the film over the last week or so. We still have a little bit to go, so please keep sharing the project around as much as you can!
We are very happy to announce that The Red Room has been completely cast! Over the next few days, we'll start introducing some of the awesome talent that has been attached to the film.
First up is Michael Falesiu. Michael is our leading man and will be playing the role of Stanley.
Michael graduated from PIPA, Pacific Institute of Performing Arts, in 2013, and was quickly signed up by an agent who spotted his talent on stage at the Mangere Arts Centre in the production of Hearts of Men directed by Vela Manusaute. Michael then landed the role of Sione in the Musical Production of Sione’s Wedding for New Zealand’s leading theatre company (ATC) Auckland Theatre Company. In 2022 he returned to the stage with ATC to play the lead role of Sione in the production Dawn Raids, written by Oscar Knightley. Right now, Michael can be seen on the big screen playing Samisoni in the locally-produced smash hit film Red White and Brass.
We are stoked to have Michael attached to the film and can't wait to announce the rest of our cast! Stay tuned.
