About our show:

‘The Professio(nah)ls’ is an original dance-theatre work by Sincere Muckabouts, a collective of local Pōneke creatives; performed by Caspar Ilschner and Otto Kosok, with live music by Martin Greshoff and design by Hollie Cohen. The show is co-produced by Monique Gilmour and Isaac Kirkwood.

Navigating professionalism is a difficult task at the best of times. These idiots are way out of their depth as they try their hand at an office job for the first time. Chaos ensues as they try to comprehend how to exist when faced with an unforgiving and controlling work environment. 

A story that takes twists and turns resulting in arguments, bodies clashing, and the all-seeing boss taking control of the show.

Design, music, movement and dialogue each play an equally important role for Sincere Muckabouts, creating an interdisciplinary exhibition of talent and creativity.

Why we need your help?

Our team are working together as a Co-Op again in order to remount this work, push ourself artistically and further our creative careers. This means that all profits and losses are shared equally by members of the team. 

Following a reduced capacity season at alert level red in Fringe 2022. We are incredibly grateful that Te Auaha and Fringe have given us the opportunity to present this work again in REFRINGE.  

Your donation will go towards our production costs, which includes paying our cast and crew. 

Due to technical difficulties with the filming of our first show your donation will also go towards electronically distributing a recording of the live performance from this season following the REFRINGE. This will enable us to share our work outside of Pōneke.

Why we need to tell this story?

The Professio(nah)ls has two main motives. The first is to encourage viewers to reflect on their own relationship to professionalism. The second is to keep people invested and interested in live performance. 

We believe in the power of performance in evoking change and contemplation as well as a sense of escape from our daily lives. 

The Professio(nah)ls is a must see for anyone; pursuing a profession, desperate for a laugh and especially for anyone who’s facing trouble with their careers. 

The performance invites you to be present in the space and be present in your own professionalism.

Our production team are all recent graduates of Toi Whakaari, The New Zealand School Of Dance, and The New Zealand School of Music. This production is an exciting opportunity to begin and continue a sustainable career within the arts industry whilst expanding our skill sets and experience.
