THE PLASTIC ORGASM
Julia Croft | Multi Discipline
Overview
Created and performed by Julia Croft and Virginia Frankovich, The Plastic Orgasm is a multi - disciplinary performance incorporating theatre, dance, performance art and live punk music, investigating representations of female sexuality in pornography.
A feminist investigation of the murky and contradictory nature of pornography and pornographic representations of female bodies, sexuality and pleasure.
The Plastic Orgasm was staged as a work in development performance series at the Basement Theatre Auckland in April 2016 and has also been shown in development at the Somewhere series (performance art series) and as part of the artists exchange at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School.
Created and performed by leading feminist performance artists and theatre makers Virginia Frankovich (CAR, Revolt she said, revolt again, If there's not dancing at the revolution, I'm not coming) and Julia Croft (Power Ballad, BOYS, If there's not dancing at the revolution, I'm not coming). Julia and Virginia will also be collaborating with artists such as Sarah-Jane Blake (The Floating Theatre, Shoot the Freak), Calvin Hudson (If there's not dancing at the revolution, I'm not coming) and Thomas Press (Lightbells, The Book of Everything, The Curious Incident of the dog in the night).
The season will take place at LOT 23 in Auckland in in late May. We are seeking financial support to cover venue hire fees. Any help big or small is deeply appreciated. We believe this is an vital and important work that grapples with some urgent questions. We are so grateful for your support.
Thank you. Truly.
