Overview
"Building the Nomadic Art Gallery is one thing. Running it is another."
It's not only meeting with artists and hunting for artworks. Running from radioshows to interviews while crossing the country in an old-timer and high heels.
Running a Nomadic Art Gallery is also going from petrol station to petrol station. Consuming hundreds and thousands of kilometres. From road user charges to leaking radiators. Crossing seas, lakes and land. Taking ferries, buying insurances, replacing tyres and expecting the unexpected. From running marketing campaigns to printing flyers. Paying contributions to art events and performers, accessing databases and conducting research. Displaying artworks in experimental ways and, ultimately, becoming Placemaker's premium members.
Help these two disoriented Nomads in their strive to bring art to people in their mobile art gallery. Help them reach their audience as well as their unique venues. Without fear for mechanical turndowns, public no-shows or Insta-shames. Make them cross the North and South Island with fuel overdoses, a triple A insurance pack and overheating hearts instead of engines.
You heard us: the Nomadic Art Gallery has finally hit the road! So why not jump on board and, together, transform Aoteroa's sharp turns, deep bumps and high peaks into a celebration of artistic success?
After two successful exhibitions at the Lakehouse Arts Centre (Auckland) and the Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival, we need your help for our gallery to shine bright at the Wellington International Pride Parade, the Te Aro Winery, the Cuba Dupa Festival and to continue its way further South.
