THE INVITE

'The Invite' is a short film that encourages young men to face their mental challenges head-on, instead of bottling them all up, which can often lead to thoughts of suicide. The short film approaches this in the form of a break-up story, laced with comedy.

At the heart of this comedy short film, is a story of having the courage to be open and to understand the outside world looking in, as opposed to looking out into the world from an enclosed mindset. It's a feel-good film that tackles heartbreak the way we should: Openly and honestly. And in turn, sending a message that 'time' is our greatest asset when it comes to mending the heart and moving forward.

About Li'i

Creator, writer and Director Li'i Alaimoana is a well-established stand up comedian hailing from Wellington city. The 2017 Billy T Award Nominee and multi-award winning comic has toured both NZ and Australia with critics and audiences alike praising his style and method of implementing nuggets of wisdom in his comedy.

Having lived with depression for over two decades, and still living with it, Li'i often leaves this out of his writings and performances as there's so much more to it from his personal experiences. He wants to share his journey in a positive light, and apply his knowledge of overcoming dark days and jarring full-stops by bringing laughter to the masses.

One of these projects is his short film 'The Invite'.

The Project

'The Invite' will cast some of Wellington's best comedians along with some of the talented up-and-comers coming through on the scene. Along with a passionate crew of filmmakers and local musicians, the short comedy will showcase some serious talent.

We want to work with the best possible equipment available, but the reality is, small budget equals smart decisions.

Where you come in

All funds raised will go towards hiring cast and film crew, catering, set hireage/build, travel, film equipment, sound, lighting, and much more. With your help through this Boosted campaign, we'll be able to make sure we can produce the best possible product.

With your help, we can do so much more.

You'll help us add extra filming days, pay our cast a great rate for their time and work, ensure we can hire some great filming gear, and on top of that, help us market the film with the hopes of hitting the international film festivals.
