The Hobson Street Theatre Company on Tour
Hobson Street Theatre Company | Theatre
Overview
The Hobson Street Theatre Company, in association with the Auckland City Mission, are presenting a new show called The Race: an unapologetic piece of theatre looking head on at how racism affects those experiencing homelessness in Aotearoa today.
The company has been together since 2010, presenting 7 shows in that time in venues including the Auckland City Mission Drop-in Centre and the Herald Theatre in the Aotea Centre. The shows are original, self-devised pieces that offer the unique voice of a sometimes marginalised section of society and allow an important discussion around homelessness in New Zealand to be had.
HSTC have been accepted into the Wellington Fringe Festival and will be performing 3 shows at the iconic BATS theatre in March 2018. Whilst initial development funding helped the team create this new piece of theatre, they now need a little extra help to fly the company and their support team down to Wellington so they can debut at the festival and run free theatre workshops for the Downtown Community Ministry while they're there.
A company with a big heart and important things to say, we hope they can continue to spread the message in their own words: "Homeless don't mean Hopeless."
