The Graceful Act
Jimmy Woo | Film
Overview
“The Graceful Act” is a short film, set in an antique bookstore. Arthur, a school boy, meets Athena, a young bookstore worker. Their lives intertwined, crafting a romantic story of connection.
Arthur is a shy, quiet, Introverted pianist, who tries to talk to Athena but can only express his feelings through the universal language of music. This story relates to a personal experience of mine, as it touches on themes of vulnerability, Shyness, Awkwardness, Pain, and love. It explores young love that we have all experienced. These heartfelt moments that we had to overcome.
Director’s Statement:
Kia Ora! My name is Jimmy Woo, I am the writer and director for “The Graceful Act”. This story is based on a true story about my first love. I'm a shy Introverted quiet guy that loves movies and books. My type of days are rainy days with a cup of hot chocolate and putting on a “Studio Ghibli film”, ps i'm a big fan of anime. One day after work I came across a bookshop and went in for a browse. In the corner of my eye I saw a bookshop worker. She had a beautiful warm presence about her. I wanted to talk to her and ask her out but I just couldn't, my over thinking brain talked me out of it. Until one day I built the courage to do it.
The Graceful Act is a story I have put my heart and soul into. It is my hope that this film is brought to life and that it can help build and find courage for people. I hope you consider supporting our film and I dream of the day when I can share it with you. With a successful boosted campaign, we are looking to raise $3300 to fund our production.
All donations will go towards Location fees, Cast/Crew, and Catering.
Thank you.
