The Blue Cow
The Blue Cow | Film
Overview
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The Blue Cow is an 8-10 minute, slice of life short film produced by a crew of passionate Massey University Wellington Film Students!
This story is about the overly attentive co-owner of The Blue Cow café, Ewan (60s), and how he embraces the challenge of working solo, after Flo, his long-time business partner, retires.
Ewan is protective of The Blue Cow and everything he and Flo have achieved. He believes hiring someone new will bring more trouble than it’s worth.
However, he soon discovers this burden is more than he can handle. Ewan must overcome his fears and learn to ask for help.
WHY THIS?
As a team, we are excited to create a short film focused on strong, relatable themes with a grounded story and polished design. We want to create films that display appreciation and admiration for the smaller moments in life.
This film is important to us due to the central theme; recognising the need for help and mustering the courage to ask for it. Our main character, Ewan, must realise he cannot take this work on alone and learn to bring in someone new to The Blue Cow crew.
This theme is close to us as young students and we believe it will resonate with audiences of all ages.
The Blue Cow story comes from our team’s experiences in customer service. The characters of this story are inspired by quirky customers we have served throughout our work in hospitality. We want to create a film that sheds light on the unique relationships between the employee and the customer in the cozy, wholesome setting of a kiwi café
