Overview
Here at the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, we take our motto “Music for Everyone” pretty seriously and the Big Play Out perfectly sums that up with a free, day-long festival where we fling open the doors of the Christchurch Town Hall for musicians of all ages and levels.
The invitations are out to all musicians in our community, from age nine to ninety-nine, giving them the opportunity to come together for a day of music making for the love of it.
On Sunday 15 August, we’ll be hosting orchestral musicians and pianists from the community, from dabblers to experts, in our home, the Christchurch Town Hall and the CSO Centre. They’ll have the chance to present a small recital, be mentored by CSO musicians, and perform in the world-class acoustics of the Douglas Lilburn Auditorium in a massed orchestra conducted by CSO Chief Conductor, Benjamin Northey.
Your support would be invaluable and we need your help to ensure it is a great success.
All funds will go towards making sure that everyone who wants to be a part of the Big Play Out can do so, and help us share our love of music with more than 2,000 people in the community.
Project Updates
Why the Big Play Out?
Horn player Philippa Foulds shares why she's so looking forward to taking part in the CSO's free music festival The Big Play Out in August. Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing more stories from people who are participating and why they're looking forward to it. Your help will ensure that everyone who wants to take part can, and that it's a huge success for everyone.
