|| ABOUT THE ALPHABET MAFIA ||

THE ALPHABET MAFIA is a broadcast standard 30 minute tv pilot. We follow Benji, a young queer student encountering his first year at university. Benji has just moved away from his small hometown on the south island up to the capital city to begin his studies. After traumas of his past lead him to be closeted about his sexuality, this is a new opportunity to live the life free of judgment. So… what does he do when he comes up to wellington...? Goes straight back into the closet.

When you think of The Alphabet Mafia, you should think of Heartstopper but for a slightly older audience, set in Aotearoa.

This show is dedicated to all of those who have had to face and deal with internalized homophobia or traumatic pasts. 

I have seen a lot of comments about how some queer people wish they had shows like Heartstopper, Skam, and Young Royals as teenagers, but this leads me to believe there are probably a whole bunch of 20 somthings that are facing their demons who also might like a show too.

|| OUR KAUPAPA ||

The Alphabet Mafia has a passionate crew of amazingly talented, up and coming kiwi filmmakers. It is a show made for this generation, by this generation. This is our chance to prove that we have the talent and drive to make things happen that you would never have expected.

|| THE ASK ||

The New Zealand Industry is full of older generations gatekeeping the funding and platforms for emerging creatives to get their foot in the door. This is why we need your help. We are using crowdfunding, sponsorships and our own capital to raise the necessary funds to take this project off the ground.

We have already raised most of the money to get our budget up but now we need the help of the public to finish our goal.

Our target is $3000 with a stretch goal of $5000 to accomplish our pilot Episode.

This will cover:

• Art Department
• Hair, Makeup & Costume
• Catering
• Transport

Boosted is an all or nothing platform so every contribution counts and all support is appreciated. If we don't meet our target, all the money is returned to the donors and we don’t make our show.

If you feel like what you have to offer isn’t enough, we promise you it goes a long way.
