T?kiri Ensemble is a brand new, exciting vocal group, featuring amazingly-talented and New Zealandly-renowned kiwi musicians: four opera singers and a pianist.
We are seeking funding for our tour, which is part of the CMNZ Encompass Regional Concerts programme. The tour is titled 'Leibe und Leben' and will feature a programme of lied and art song, combined with New Zealand works. We will perform to audiences in Kaitaia, Wanaka, Motueka, Waikanae, Wanganui, Rotorua and Whakatane. Join us by making a donation and we promise to sing our hearts out for you.
We are unique in Australasia. In a first-time collaboration, New Zealandly acclaimed soprano, Anna Leese, joins stunning mezzo soprano Bianca Andrew, the fantastically-talented Andrew Glover, tenor, Robert Tucker, baritone and Kirsten Simpson, pianist. Our vision is to sing the beautiful and rarely performed classical song ensembles, presenting them in a fresh way. We hope to eventually commission works and record a CD. The whole Ensemble sees a big future ahead and hopes to perform in NZ and eventually Australia and Asia.
We all have a passion for education outreach and plan to perform concerts and workshops in schools. We will begin the tour with Mahurangi College on Friday 21st August in Warkworth. This will be the first in a series of education performances.
T?kiri Ensemble is delighted to welcome you on the journey of our debut tour in August and September, with Chamber Music New Zealand. All funding will go towards travel costs, accommodation and other tour expenses.
Chamber Music New Zealand Encompass Tours cover the length and breadth of NZ, working with a range of artists and regional chamber music presenters. In this way CMNZ tries to foster the development of young New Zealand artists - and we are grateful to them for selecting the Takiri ensemble for its Encompass programme. The fee we receive for these concerts is modest - and we need to supplement it to cover our own costs.
We will update all our Boosted supporters on tour highlights and let you know all the news.
