The Project

Kaituhi Creative wants to bring the hilarious and moving new play written by Tatiana Hotere to stage. More than just a funny, smart and intriguing narrative, Skin Hunger is a semi-autobiographical tale of a woman’s roller-coaster journey through Grief, God and ‘Gasms. Raw, passionate, sexy and heartbreakingly funny.

We want to bring to stage a show that is for anyone who’s ever lost a dearly loved one and had to rediscover themselves (and perhaps their clitoris too!). In doing so it's just as important for Tatiana and Kaituhi Creative that there's an opportunity for audience to discuss themes of grief, faith, rediscovery and sexual empowerment, hence there will be an open korero evening after the show mid-week where the audience can join cast and specialist counsellors to chat candidly about such themes.

WHY WE NEED YOU!

This all costs money in a theatre environment that has been ravaged by recent world events - still, Kaituhi Creative wants to pay CAST AND CREW what they're worth, while bringing to stage all the bells and whistles that the audience, YOU GUYS, deserve. A Little More About the Play -

Skin Hunger explores the intersection of grief, faith and sexuality. After the death of her beloved husband - grief-stricken Eva, a perimenopausal woman of faith - embarks on a journey of self-discovery, spiritual awakening and sexual empowerment. Amidst a deluge of tragic tinder dates, self-doubt and Catholic guilt, she finds the courage to forge a new path for her life in the chaotic aftermath. Eva discovers - there is new life after death. All money raised from our campaign will go directly into this process.
