Shortland Street - The Musical Original Cast Recording
Guy Langford | Theatre
Overview
After six years of development, SHORTLAND STREET - THE MUSICAL finally premiered as Auckland Theatre Company's summer musical in a production audiences and critics raved about.
"A quintessential Kiwi musical that can be performed over and over again" - Stuff
"One of the most entertaining and enjoyable theatrical events of the year" - Theatrescenes
"The benchmark for the future [of New Zealand musicals]" - NBR
We now want to make an original cast recording of the eighteen songs in the show, written and composed by Guy Langford, including 'Not in Guatemala Now', 'Stuck In a Love Triangle', 'Bed-Hopping' and 'Cliffhanger.'
"Every ballad, duet and ensemble sing-off has instant classic written all over it" - NZ Herald
"The score is electric, funky, and so damn catchy" - Broadway World
"The songs [are] insanely good. Campy, catchy, funny: everything you could hope from even a Broadway production" - express Magazine
To make the album a reality we need your support! By donating, you'll help us reach our target of $12,500, enabling us to cover all the costs involved (studio, talent, production) in making a high-quality recording.
When the album's complete (mid-2019), you'll be the first to hear it. Then we'll spread the music far and wide, so those that have seen the show can re-experience 'The Five Wives of Doctor Warner', and those that haven't can get a taste of Lionel's tap-dancing barbershop-singing muffins croon 'Bake It Away'.
