Overview

In the exhilarating and male-dominated world of dirt track racing, stock car driver Brooke does what she loves most: races. The fiercely determined Brooke navigates the pits, the track, the past, and the future of NZ's most beloved motorsport.

SHE SPEEDS is an insight into the world of New Zealand dirt track racing through the eyes of Brooke Clarkson - a fourth generation racer, and one of the few female drivers in her class.

We explore Speedway, and Brooke's part in it, before the light turns green and then we are taken for a ride deep into the mind of a race car driver.

This film will explore the concept of impact through the eyes of one of the only women in this motorsport - a sport that has its fair share of literal impacts as well

The Film
We are going to capture a small slice of the fun, dirty, colourful, energetic, gritty, exhilarating sport that is stock car racing on film. We are super stoked to be a part of Loading Docs this year - particularly with the IMPACT theme. We can't wait to make an impact with this film and believe that starts here - with you.

What will we do with the donations?
For this short documentary we want to really get inside the mind of a racer - and to do this we want to achieve a heightened experience through using multiple small cameras and microphones inside Brooke's car. To do this professionally and safely we are not only hiring some of the best camera people and sound recordists - but we will be hiring out a track for a day.

All donations to this project through Boosted are tax deductible and you'll get a receipt to prove it to your accountant!

Why crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is an awesome way to build our audience from the beginning of the filmmaking process - we can take you on the wild ride that is making a film!

Loading Docs is supported by NZ On Air, the New Zealand Film Commission, Te M?ngai P?ho, and more incredible supporters who all want to see this film get made: they will provide an additional $4000 but only if we hit our funding goal of $2000.

Where will you be able to see the film?
You will get to see it online, anywhere in the world! And for FREE. We are excited to make this film, and to share it with as many people as possible.

Come for a ride!
Thank you for taking the time to read about our project. And if you can't donate - please share the project and look out for the end result too!
