Overview

ScatterGun is an original work of solo performance written and performed by multi award-winning actor and artist Ana Chaya Scotney aka Kōtiro (Millie Lies Low, Cousins, The Breaker Upperers, The Contours of Heaven, High Def Multinational.)

About ScatterGun

Joyfully and honestly exploring themes of diaspora, marvelling at the forces of tectonic power and the natural world, ScatterGun explores what binds us, as people, tangata, beneath the divisive architecture of the modern time, here in Aotearoa New Zealand.

This show has been developed over the past two years, including as an Ideas In Residence piece, alongside Basement Theatre, in 2020, mentored by Eleanor Bishop. During this residency, Ana and Eleanor travelled to Te Urewera to ask Ana's whānau at home in the ngahere (forest): what is the meaning of the word ūkaipō?

Help us get to BATS!

We need help to get our show to BATS for this season and world premier of the first iteration of ScatterGun on March 5 and 6 at 7pm.

The resources raised through this Boosted campaign, will go directly towards venue and rehearsal space hire, funding key collaborators across the rehearsal and development period, and towards marketing the show.

Thank you for your support!

Thanks to you, we hit our target <3

Far, thank you all so much! We are enormously grateful to you all for your financial and emotional support and DM's, in the process of realising this work. Being that we are just over halfway through our campaign, we still have time to continue resourcing our show, sustainably covering the fees of collaborators, for their time and creative investment; for our venue and rehearsal space hire, for running a small print of zines to share the whakapapa/origins of this piece, and give context to it....Please share the link with your hoa and community. Thank you for your on-going manaaki, and we are excited to see you in March, ngā mihi! Kōtiro

Here is a little trailer with music by Haz Forrester, shot and edited by Joseph Patchett
