Reopening Katherine Mansfield House
Katherine Mansfield House and Garden | Multi Discipline
The Project
Reopening the wonderful Katherine Mansfield House & Garden after the 14 November earthquakes will cost somewhere in the region of $10,000 to $20,000.
Our much-loved heritage site suffered damage when the neighbour's wall fell on us during the 14 November earthquake. We have lots to do - remove the brick wall from the house, repair the weatherboards, fix the fire alarm and pipe works, and bring our garden back to life. Please help us restore Katherine Mansfield House and Garden to its former glory by making a contribution to the Earthquake Repairs Fund.
To restore our Grade One listed House and our Garden of New Zealand Significance, we need you.
The House & Garden is run by a registered charitable Society which cares for these New Zealand treasures. Katherine Mansfield is an important Kiwi icon and this is a site where visitors from all over the country and all over the world come to celebrate her legacy.
The full cost of repairs has yet to be established and until the neighbour's wall has been removed we can't assess the full extent of the damage. What we do know is we will have to contribute towards the costs of demolition and removal and for the various repairs to the House. We also need to re-establish the damaged area of the Garden and erect new fencing. We're estimating these costs will be somewhere in the region of $10,000 to $20,000.
A wonderful supporter has offered $500 to kick start our Boosted campaign! This means we have already reached our "target", but really we're trying to raise as much support as we can, and any contribution, large or small, will be very, very helpful!
