REIGNITE: The Meteor

Overview
REIGNITE The Meteor Theatre!
Covid-19 has made a catastrophic impact on the Meteor Theatre, like creative spaces and venues nation-wide. We have lost more than 50% of our earned income through lock-down and event cancellations for 2020. With staff pay cuts, wage subsidies and strict cashflow control we have survived until now. But with no events and lots of expenses over Levels 4-2, our future as a space for the community to share in creative experiences is looking dark…
So, we’re calling on you - our arts HEROES - to help us REIGNITE and rise from the ashes stronger than ever. Help us keep our lights on (literally) and our doors open to creators and audience members by donating to The Meteor’s REIGNITE Campaign.
We’ve set the goal to raise $12,000 to help us REIGNITE and survive in a post Covid-19 world. We’re here for the long haul and have no intention of turning our lights off for good.
These funds will help us pay The Meteor’s ongoing operational costs: electricity, security, communications, maintenance etc, as we reawaken our program for 2020. Your donation will impact on the creative journeys of thousands of people, whether they be artists, audience members or producers.
Please help if you can afford to donate. If you can’t right now, please share our project with others who may be able to support and REIGNITE The Meteor.
The Meteor is Hamilton’s home of New Zealand theatre. Our iconic Black Box Theatre is the Waikato’s most innovative, accessible and affordable Performing Arts venue! We work hard to enhance the performing arts in Hamilton and NZ by providing a vibrant and thriving venue for theatre, music, dance, poetry, exhibitions, workshops, comedy, improv…and much, much more.
We’ve worked hard to future-proof The Meteor over the past six years with earthquake strengthening work, investing in backstage facilities, a new causeway, making our venue accessible to all, AND rebuilding the workshop and Black Box. Please help ensure that this work wasn’t in vain, help us weather the uncertain times ahead.
We’re here for our community, for all the people who need a jumping point for their creative plunge or a landing zone for their touring work. And we’re here for our audience too. Because now, more than ever, we need the connection of live arts experiences that transport us beyond our lives, into other stories and other worlds...
Thank you for your support.
