About our film

Red Scare – What if the Red was under your bed?

Red Scare is a 1950s black and white thriller short, set in America. It follows Mary, a stereotypical housewife, as she fears a soviet invasion and the loss of her perfect life, which she has worked so hard to attain. She begins to hallucinate the colour red, and is paranoid it is her fears coming true. Media propaganda and misinformation increases her madness and created more red visions until she murders her husband. Mary’s fear and paranoia destroyed the very thing she tried to save.

On the surface, ‘Red Scare’ may appear to be an anti-communist film, the true themes lie within misinformation and how media can influence and radicalise someone. The theme of misinformation is rare today, but vital to warn people of any age.

We want to place you, the audience, directly into Mary’s black and white world, but you can see the red color of her innermost fears – we will bring you a rare visual experience by black – and - white world, with the color red isolated. By feeling her world to remind ourself always keep our mind clear, don’t always trust media propaganda.

Why we need you help?

Our script has been polished to the ninth edition; we have 7 core members on board; we already have a location and are planning to shoot in the end of July. We have work hard to secured $3,000 from people who want this film to succeed, but we need another $6000 to make this film happen. Everything is in the pipeline, but we really need your help. 

Your donation will support our group of passionate filmmakers, help cover the cast fees, our location cost, the basic catering for our crew, our costumes and props to decorate and build a convincing world of 1950’s world.

Boosted is an all-or-nothing platform, so we have to meet our funding target. If we do not manage to raise these funds, we will not be able to finish our graduation work. So, please help our team of young filmmakers with dreams and passion to take that important first step into our careers!

Why we need to tell this story?

We want to bring a rare visual experience and recollect the retro 1950s era with audience.

The most important is to be as a warning to audiences of the danger of trusting everything in the media, and how easy it is to be swayed by misinformation.
