Raroboys Vol. 3
Geoffery Matautia | Multi Discipline
The Project
We’re back!
Who?
Formed in 2018 and led by Lolani Dalosa, Bryson Naik and Geoffery Matautia, Raroboys is a multi-disciplinary collective comprised of 11 artists who are primarily pacific and South Auckland based. Over the past 6 years, Raroboys members have had a hand in creating and collaborating with the ever growing arts scene in Tamaki Makaurau as well as developing themselves as practicing artists.
Raroboys members have created works for the likes of Church and AP, JessB, YGB, Melodowns published in Viva, Metro Magazine as well as shown works at Papakura Art Gallery, Ōtara Fresh Gallery, Māngere Arts Centre, Tautai Pacific Arts, Te Tuhi, HOEA! And Ūkaipō
What?
After self funding their previous exhibitions Vol. 1 (2018 at 312 Hub) and Vol. 2 (2019 at Afterhours Studio) followed by Raroboys and Friends (2021 at Mangere Arts Centre) Raroboys look to commemorate their upcoming 6 year anniversary with an exhibition titled 'Vol. 3' in December.
This exhibition is a reflection of the relationships, collaborations and creativity Raroboys have created, maintained and developed over those 6 years. With the theme of ‘celebration’ at the forefront we ask the participating artists to respond to the theme using their preferred practice(s) as the vehicle to do so.
Now that you know what we want to do, you can find out what your donation will go to!
All raised funds will go towards the following:
- Space hire for the exhibition (1 Month) as well as the space to host any events and public programming
- Materials costs for 11 artists to produce work (paint, canvas, printing etc.)
- Materials for public programming and workshops facilitated by Raroboys members (equipment hire, stationary etc.)
- Opening night miscellaneous cost
- Creative Market
We thank you for any contributions made and hope to see you all at the show (Dec 2024!)
If you would like to keep up with the process feel free to follow us on Instagram where we'll be sharing work, behind the scenes and profiling some of our participating artists - @raroboys
