The Project
POSTPARTUM
POSTPARTUM is a 8-10 min psychological thriller that brings to the screen the story of Hanna, a new mother losing foot with reality after giving birth to her first child. Suffering from postpartum psychosis, Hanna is struggling to create an emotional connection with her first child.
The aim of this movie is to show how scary motherhood can be for new mothers and for their families.
WHY YOUR HELP IS IMPORTANT
With your donations, we aim to support other Aotearoa creatives by being able to provide them with a koha to show our gratitude. The funding will be used for 3 main departments :
- pay our actors.
- afford catering to feed our wonderful crew and cast.
- pay an animal wrangler for a couple of days.
Boosted is an all-or-nothing campaign, so any help is highly appreciated!
WHY WE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS STORY
We believe that in times during which women are losing basic rights such as the right to abort, it is important to remind everyone that motherhood can be a terrifying experience. That is why we want to bring such an underrepresented issue to the big screen.
THE TEAM
Behind this project is Lucie Lesnard, a young filmmaker in her last year of her screen production degree. Lucie has always been passionate about telling everyday stories with a twist of imagination and surrealism.
Accompanying her in this journey is Zachary Spear, her right arm and fellow screen practitioner. Zac is a fantastic people's person and is able to make actors and crew comfortable on set from the get-go.
In the camera department, Daniel Monckton and Saman Tehrani will help achieve the director's vision by bringing their technical knowledge to the shoot.
Finally, as a man of multiple skills, Levi Roberts-Brothers has helped the director with her script, crowdfunding and casting.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
If you would like to find other ways to support us, even just a like on our instagram or facebook page would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to share our story around as well.
