Pirates of the Curry Bean
Luminaires Charitable Trust | Theatre
The Project
Help us give young people of Ōtautahi the chance to learn skills outside of the classroom. YOUR support will benefit up to 25 local youth with hands-on experience and mentorship in a range of behind-the-scenes roles in live theatre.
Luminaires will facilitate opportunities for young people aged 17-25 to be professionally mentored in aspects behind-the-scenes while producing a children’s musical theatre production, “Pirates of the Curry Bean”, featuring up to 50 young performers aged 8-25.
Luminaires will align mentors with these young people in a variety of behind-the-scenes aspects of musical theatre.
These may include, but certainly not limited to:
Directing, stage management, props creation, technical operation, set design, marketing, choreography, musical direction, theatre photography, production management, costuming, stage make-up and much more.
The young people receiving mentorship will not only broaden their abilities and develop new skills, they will have the chance to work alongside industry professionals, which may in turn, generate potential employment opportunities in the performing arts.
However, to procure skilled and experienced mentors we are in need of funds to offer fair compensation for their time and professional skills.
For this we need your help! Every dollar counts twice.
